With the year slowly coming to an end, what better way to celebrate the holiday season than spending time and honoring our great seniors of Harlem!  

On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, Silicon Harlem and the Manhattan Education Opportunity Center celebrated with 61 Seniors and Community leaders at the 2019 holiday luncheon at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Building Art Gallery on 125th Street. Attendees enjoyed a great meal, had the opportunity to network with community leaders and companies who serve the senior community, and brought over 75 unwrapped gifts to donate to the Harlem Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation on 138th Street!

We were also joined by some of Harlem’s iconic Community leaders.  Former House of Representative Congressman Charlie Rangel, and Assemblywoman of the 70th district of the New York State Assembly Inez Dickens both spoke about how technology is changing the world and how Silicon Harlem Co-Founders Clayton Banks and Bruce Lincoln are instrumental in making sure Upper Manhattan does not lag behind in this new digital economy.

For Silicon Harlem, this was also a moment to reflect on the success and all the people who have supported Silicon Harlem in 2019 .  One of the people who was recognized for his support and commitment to partnering with Silicon Harlem to bring technology to Upper Manhattan was Assemblyman Al Taylor of the 71st District of Upper Manhattan who received the The Inaugural Silicon Harlem Community Tech Award.

Silicon Harlem CEO Clayton Banks said, “Assemblyman Taylor has always been a great advocate of Silicon Harlem, and without his neverending support, Silicon Harlem would not be able to impact the community as much as we have today. Thank you Mr. Al Taylor!”
